Depression Treatment
Has Depression Robbed You of Your Self-Worth?
Do you feel overwhelmed and exhausted by all of the obligations you’re juggling? Are you burdened by fatigue? Do you ever wish that you could get to the root of what’s bringing you down so that you can feel truly happy again?
Living with depression can leave you questioning your self-worth and struggling to manage your responsibilities. You may feel a pervasive sense of sadness in your everyday life, or you might experience emotional numbness. Sometimes, depression develops during life transitions. If you’re a new mother, for example, postpartum depression may cause feelings of anger, sadness, and disconnection that can persist long after your baby’s birth.Â
Depression may make you feel like you’re always under pressure to live up to a standard that you can’t reach. Between working and caring for your family, you may barely have any time left for yourself, and your to-do list never ends. But dealing with depression has left you feeling unmotivated, and you can’t help but leave some tasks unfinished.
As a result of never being able to catch up, you might often find it’s hard to shake the feeling that you’re always tired. No matter how much you sleep, you don’t have the energy to keep up with everything you need to do, and you may have abandoned your hobbies and interests out of sheer exhaustion and diminished joy.
Maybe you long to open up to your loved ones about your feelings, but you may feel too isolated and question if your friends and family would truly listen and value you. And if depression makes it difficult for you to form close relationships, you might not know where to turn for support. Fortunately, with treatment, overcoming depression is possible so that you can experience true happiness and self-confidence again.

Depression is one of the Most Widespread Mental Health Conditions
As humans, we all experience periods of sadness and grief. When we’re going through a major transition in life or coming to terms with a loss, for example, our mental health can suffer. It’s estimated that 16.2 million adults in the United States, or 6.7 percent of American adults, have had at least one major depressive episode in a given year.
Today, life often feels hectic, and trying to balance a multitude of responsibilities can take a toll. This is particularly true for parents, who often find themselves trying to manage their personal obligations with little time for self care. From keeping up at work to managing the entire family’s schedule, many mothers feel the burden of carrying the mental load for their families.
In addition, a person with a family history of depression may be more likely to struggle with this condition at some point in their life, and during challenging times, they might need more ongoing support. Living through a traumatic experience can also affect self-worth and self-confidence, and trauma survivors may need help healing the past, addressing unhealthy learned messages, and improving their current coping skills.Â
Why is overcoming depression alone so difficult? When you are in the fog of depression, it can be impossible to see the forest for the trees—you may not be able to pinpoint when your symptoms began or why. But a therapist can provide a more objective perspective and help you look beyond your symptoms to analyze the root of the issue.
In fact, a trusting relationship with a depression therapist can serve as a catalyst for positive growth and help you determine what adjustments you need to make in order to be present in your life and feel genuinely happy again.Â
Depression Treatment Can Help You Rediscover Your Own Value
Some people living with depression worry that going to therapy won’t help them change. But at Mindworthy Therapy, we have seen firsthand how depression treatment allows clients to step back from the chaos of their lives and shift their perspectives.Â
Therapy provides a safe, confidential space where you’ll learn how your past influences your present and how you can create a brighter future. With an approach that integrates therapeutic modalities with psychoeducation and coping skills, you’ll feel comfortable exploring the cause of your depression and working with your therapist to become personally empowered.Â
After you schedule an appointment, you will receive intake paperwork via our client portal to be completed before your first session.Â
During your first session, we’ll discuss your history, your reasons for seeking therapy, and your goals. We will also work together to come up with a unique treatment plan that suits your needs. Throughout each session, exploring your personal history and working towards your goals often happens simultaneously—we continue to identify how the root cause of your depression influences your symptoms and relationships with others and how you can adopt healthier thought patterns and habits to heal.
In the course of treatment, we’ll work on specific techniques that you can use to address symptoms of depression outside of therapy. You will learn to recognize unhealthy behavioral patterns and gain the insights and skills to break them. In addition, we will focus on mindfulness skills—like meditation and breathing techniques—to help you cope during tough times. You will also explore grounding methods that will allow you to recenter yourself when you feel uncertain.Â
We incorporate several therapeutic modalities to support our clients. Through psychodynamic therapy, you can increase your self-awareness and examine how your past influences your emotions and behaviors in the present. Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) utilizes bilateral stimulation, such as guided eye movements or alternate tapping, to help you physiologically reprocess trauma.Â
You’ll also learn to analyze cognitive distortions with Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to see how your thoughts affect your feelings, break the negative thought patterns that lead to depression, and gain emotional regulation skills. Through CBT, you can begin to challenge cognitive distortions and develop a healthier self-image.
Since 2002, we have helped many clients with treating depression through a personalized approach that allowed them to deepen their self-compassion. With our expertise and guidance, you can gain the insight necessary to create a life that is truly worthy of you.
But You May Still Have Questions About
Depression Treatment…
I’m nervous to share my personal struggles with a stranger.
After a couple of sessions, the right therapist won’t feel like a stranger anymore! As we work together, we’ll build a supportive therapeutic relationship, and talking about your mental health will get easier over time. A good therapist will maintain an unbiased, objective perspective throughout your sessions together, and your therapist’s extensive educational background provides them with informed insight into depression that you might not have considered.
I’m ashamed to seek therapy. I should be able to deal with this on my own.
Many people who suffer from depression experience intense feelings of shame and guilt, and this can hold people back from seeking help when they need it. But pursuing therapy for your depression is nothing to be embarrassed about. In fact, making the decision to schedule your first therapy appointment takes a lot of courage. Recognizing that it’s time to ask for help and taking steps to heal is something to be proud of.
Depression treatment is expensive. I don’t think I can afford it.
For therapy to be accessible, it needs to be affordable. And therefore, we offer several payment options for our patients. We are in-network with several large health insurance companies and can check your plan’s benefits and will file claims on your behalf. We can also submit claims for patients using out-of-network benefits. In addition, we accept HSA, FSA, or HRA funds to cover deductibles and copays and offer sliding scale fees to patients who do not have insurance.
