OUR TEAM

Patricia (Kamal) Zaretzky MS, LCPC

“Life is a Workshop” is a phrase a dear friend often reminds me of. Life is a journey filled with challenges, pain, joy, and growth, and there are times when having someone walk alongside us can provide the support and perspective we need to move forward.

Specialties & Experience

As a therapist, my goal is to provide a safe, caring, and non-judgmental space where clients can better understand themselves, develop self-acceptance, and feel empowered to create meaningful change. I view therapy as a collaborative partnership between therapist and client, and I believe that healing begins when we feel safe enough to explore our experiences with honesty and compassion.

I work with individual adults and young adults of all ages, with a particular focus on trauma, PTSD, complex trauma, anxiety, mood concerns, grief and loss, and major life transitions. I also enjoy working with older adults who are navigating the unique transitions and experiences that can come with this stage of life, including changes in identity, relationships, family roles, retirement, loss, and other adjustments that may accompany aging.

Approach

I am trained in EMDR and parts work and use a trauma-informed, integrative approach to therapy. Depending on each client’s needs and goals, I may also incorporate mindfulness, somatic awareness, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), and existential therapy. My goal is to help clients understand how their experiences may be affecting them today, develop effective tools for coping with life’s challenges, and build greater confidence, hope, and resilience.

Education

I earned my master’s degree in Clinical Counseling and my undergraduate degree in Human Behavioral Science from National Louis University. I have experience working in both community mental health and private practice.

Outside of the Therapy Room

Please feel free to call me Kamal! It is a nickname I’ve had most of my life. Outside of therapy, I enjoy spending time with family and friends, practicing mindfulness meditation, taking quiet walks in nature, listening to music, exploring art, and traveling to discover new places.
