OUR TEAM
Marina Bottiglieri MA, LPC
IL & TX
I believe there is no “one-size-fits-all” approach to therapy. Every person brings their own experiences, strengths, challenges, and goals, and my role is to meet each client where they are and find approaches that feel meaningful and helpful to them. I strive to create a warm, supportive, and collaborative environment where clients feel comfortable being themselves while working toward positive change.
Specialties & Experience
I work with children, teens, and adults of all ages. I specialize in grief and loss, with extensive experience working with people who have lost parents, children, siblings, pregnancies, and pets. Grief is not just a response to death, so I also work extensively with people grieving other losses, such as divorce, job loss, major moves, and loss of identity.
I also work with clients experiencing anxiety, depression, perfectionism, low frustration or distress tolerance, relationship difficulties, parenting concerns, trauma, and major life transitions.
Approach
When working with children, I often incorporate Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Child-Centered Play Therapy, Solution-Focused Play Therapy, expressive arts, and creative interventions such as sand tray therapy.
I believe children often communicate and process their experiences in ways that go beyond words, and creative approaches can give them a safe and engaging way to express emotions and develop new coping skills.
With teens and adults, I frequently draw from CBT, Motivational Interviewing, and Psychodynamic approaches.
Education
I earned both my master’s degree in Professional Counseling and my bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Texas State University. I am graduating with my PhD in Counselor Education and Supervision from Adler University at the end of 2026. My dissertation is a collection of my most passionate research into counseling bereaved children.
Outside of the Therapy Room
Outside of therapy, my life revolves around my little family. I enjoy spending quality time with my husband, son, and our two dogs. I am also an avid reader and love curling up with a good fantasy or romance novel and an oversized cup of coffee. And, as a self-proclaimed reality television enthusiast, I am always happy to share a laugh about the latest episode of Real Housewives of Salt Lake City!
